So the show is finally over - we are exhausted! Working from dawn til dusk and more for 4 solid days is a killer - thankyou so much to Trudy and Mike who were there with us from beginning to end! I will never again moan about shows! We are still unpacking and sorting out.
Well done to Abi for winning G3 Agility - so proud of you and Og! Natalie and Coco winning medium G3 agility!! Also Amanda and Flyn getting a 1st on their grade 2 debut, Lesley and Hex getting a 2nd and 3rd - back to your consistent ways! Penny getting lots of fab results with Mutley and Ruby.
A huge thankyou to everyone who helped, we had a great team of people - Ray and Jean for the Thursday, marking out the ground; Mark for being great on the PA; all our ring managers and judges; the practice ring girlies; the list is endless. We keep being asked if we will do it again - to be honest its not just a decision for us but for everyone else who helped so much.
I have had lots of positive comments about the show - the organisation, the trophies etc. We have had 3 offers of judges for next year already! But obviousley the ground is an issue.
We had no idea how cracked it was until we cut it (maybe we should have left it long like Blackdown and Bovey Tracey!). The cracks were due to the bad weather but also due to the treatment of the ground in the past by the farmer. He has agreed that when the winter comes and it gets wet he will roller it and press it flat thus getting rid of the current cracks and crisscross grooves. But all the fields around are cracked to a degree due to the extreme weather we have had.
At the moment we 'think' we will do it again. With the farmer rolling the ground, us getting it cut more in advance so we know what we are dealing with, if it is bad getting bulk sand delivered and raked over the whole area, then we think it will be feasible.
However a valid point has been raised - will people risk coming to the same site again if they didn't like the ground? Do we need to find an alternative venue or can we persuade people it will be ok? Answers on a post card.......!
I am looking forward to Wye valley this weekend to enjoy running our dogs! Especially as its the last grade 6 classses for Raq!
Hope to see you there x
